Green, Fleetwood, and McVie function as John Mayall's Bluesbreakers; but Green has aspirations other than being in Mayall's backing band.
13 August. Green and Fleetwood, with guitarist Jeremy Spencer and bassist Bob Brunning premiered a new band called Fleetwood Mac (combining Mick Fleetwood and hoping that John McVie would join them).
The band signs with blues label, Blue Horizon.
 
1968
24 February. Fleetwood Mac (Blue Horizon LP). Their first album is a combination of original and traditional blues.
29 March. "Black Magic Woman" / "The Sun Is Shining" [Blue Horizon 57 3138, charts, UK #37].
5 July. "Need Your Love" [Blue Horizon 57 3139, charts, UK #31]
August. Danny Kirwan joins the band as its third guitarist.
24 August. Fleetwood Mac, Family, Fairport Convention, Roy Harper, Eclection, and Ten Years After appear at a concert in Hyde Park
30 August. Mr Wonderful [Blue Horizon 7-63205, LP release]
1-2 September, at Droitwich, Worchester: Bank Holiday Bluesology Festival beings featuring Fleetwood Mac, the Move, Duster Bennett, the Freddie Mac Show, Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds, Wynder K Frog, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band, the Family, Cliff Bennett, John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Jasper Stubbs, the Passion Forest, the Breakthrough, and Skip Bifferty.
29 November. "Albatross" / "Jigsaw Puzzle Blues" [Blue Horizon 57 3145, charts, UK #1]
 
1969
The band would travel to the US where they would record at Chess Records with some of their blues idols.
The band begins to look for a new label with wider distribution and initially signs with Oldham's Immediate Records; but Oldham fails to make an impression and the band resigns with Warner Brothers. Thereafter, they undergo numberous personnel changes leaving only Fleetwood and McVie as the only original members in the band.
