The Mark Four come together originally in Hertfordshire, England with John Dalton (bass) and Mick Thompson (guitar)

Robert Stigwood becomes manager and they release unsuccessfully on Mercury.

Over the next few years they become a respected club band in London with innovative guitar work by Eddie Phillips, possibly the first English guitarist to incorporate feedback into performances and to use a violin bow on his guitar.
John Dalton (Frame 1993:4): Eddie began using feedback in our stage version of the Animals’ "House of the Rising Sun" in July 64 . . . , he tried to duplicate Alan Price’s organ part on his guitar.

As the pop art phase of British rock begins, Kenny Pickett includes "the creation" of spray paintings which they then burned as part of the performance.

6 June. The Mark Four's associations with mod culture led to a change in image and name to the Creation. Their new manager, Tony Stratton-Smith, arranged for the Who's erstwhile producer, Shel Talmy, to take over production of their recordings and to sign them with a new label (Planet). However, as they were about to embark upon this phase of their career, John Dalton leaves to become a de facto member of the Kinks. Mick Thompson also leaves. Bob Garner (from Tony Sheridan's band) replaces Thompson and Dalton on bass. (Frame 1993: 4)

Phillips turns down request to join the Who (Frame 1993: 4).
29 April: 14 Hour Technicolour Dream at Alexandra Palace, London as promotion for the opening of IT [International Times] magazine (Chambers).

October. "Through My Eyes" / "Life Is Just Beginning" [Polydor]
 
1968[EP 22-23, KP 20-21]

May. "Midway Down" / "The Girls Are Naked" [Polydor]
June. Pickett leaves to become a composer and Garner becomes the singer. Their replacements include Kim Gardner (bass) and Ron Wood (guitar). However, the band falls apart.
