London
As Britain's media center, London and Londoners often set trends for the rest of the country. An outgrowth of the trad music scene, Londoners loved American blues in its various forms. London clubs such as the Marquee, the Crawdaddy, the Flamingo, and others provided places for British blues musicians to hear their idols (Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy Williamson, and others who toured the UK). These lunch and night spots also offered stages where musicians could play and learn the art and where fans could come to listen and to dance.
London blues musicians formed the core of the British blues movement.
