1969
February-March: Winwood leaves Traffic; Clapton and Baker leave Cream. Winwood and Clapton begin rehearsing together. Different stories have Baker joining them from the beginning while others insist that he joined later and over Clapton's objections.
When this begins to look like a band, Robert Stigwood (for Clapton and Atlantic Records) and Chris Blackwell (for Winwood and Island Records) emerge as the co-managers.
April-May: After rehearsals, Clapton, Winwood and Baker begin recording what will be their only album at Olympic Studios. Grech will join them on May 3rd. Jimmy Miller (who had recorded Traffic and was recording the Rolling Stones comeback) recorded the albums. The quality of the recordings is bare, with minimum effects such as reverberation and almost no obvious overdubbing.
7 June.   Hyde Park free concert. Robert Stigwood (Daily Mail, 9 June 1969 in Shapiro 1991:100): "They are going to make a lot of money in appearance and on records and this concert was the best possible beginning they could have got. My own men filmed the whole thing. I am going to make a great deal of money out of it from film and television rights all over the world."
Hyde Park set list: "Well All Right," "Sea of Joy," "Sleeping in the Ground," "Under My Thumb," "Can't Find My Way Home," "Do What You Like," "In the Presence of the Lord," "Means to an End," "Had to Cry Today."

16 June. Stockholm, Sweden. Two performances.
18 June. Liseberg and Göteborg, Sweden.

22 June. Faith release their quickly recorded debut album focusing on essentials of performance without heavy production. The album may also be thought of as an early example of Christian rock with one song clearly religious, and other tracks open to spiritual interpretation. This may partially also explain the name of the band.

American distributors consider the UK album cover for Blind Faith (with its photo of a nude 11-year-old girl holding a "phallic" model airplane) too risque and replace it with a group photo.
