The un-amplified orientation of this recording (acoustic guitars, brushes on drums) contrasts remarkably with that of the loud amplification associated with many bands of the time and reflects the interest in acoustic sounds explored by Traffic and even Led Zeppelin ("Black Mountain Side"). The band recorded the backing tracks at Morgan and Winwood later overdubbed the vocals at Olympic.
Blind Faith made these recordings with very little over dubbing or spliced takes. These are, in essence, live recordings made in a studio. This reflects a philosophical approach to rock that valued spontaneity and craftsmanship as well as the absolute self-assurance of the three stars of the group. They seem to have had the notion that they did not want the recording to get in the way of the music. Others were similarly adopting this approach, including the the Beatles.
Miller's production is crisp and clean, with all of the instruments clearly audible. Indeed, the recording can sound at times as though the musicians are in the room with the listener.
