Notes and Quotes: "Glad All Over"

The Dave Clark Five had their moment of fame when this song replaced the Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" at the top of the UK charts in late 1963. Some of the press gleefully announced the demise of the Beatles for the first of many times.
They were, of course, wrong; but "Glad All Over" did bring a different kind of sound into the mix of musical sounds emanating from the radio in the days following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. As many in the world wondered whether nuclear war was immanent or if Western civilization was crumbling before their eyes, British (and soon, American) teens were proclaiming the arrival of a different invasion force.
