Notes and Quotes: "Go Now"

Originally recorded by Bessie Banks (1962) by Mike Lieber and Jerry Stoller on Blue Cat Records.
In addition to this being one of the only successful waltzes of the beat era, the song also has a curious musical structure. Notably, the length of verses telescopes in the second half of the recording. For example, they abbreviate the first part of the verse (verse p1) from the piano solo onwards. The change might have been an attempt to shorten the song. The recording is already over three minutes, which is very long for this period. However, this telescoping has the effect of building tension towards the end of the recording.
