"A Hard Day's Night" (Lennon, McCartney) [2:40]
Take one, recorded 16 April 1964.
The Beatles with John Lennon (voice & rhythm guitar), Paul McCartney (voice & bass guitar), George Harrison (lead guitar), and Ringo Starr (drums).
George Martin, producer. Norman Smith, engineer.
The Beatles. 1995. The Beatles Anthology [1:2:12]. London: EMI Records Ltd. [Capitol CDP 7243 8 34446 2 6]

McCartney (Miles 1997:165): John said, "I'll write it." And he did, he came back the next day with it. I think he might not have had all the words. I might have been in on that middle eight. Something like that would only have taken twenty minutes. That would have been plenty of time to run through it.

Text
It's been a hard day's night, and I've been workin' like a dog.
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleepin' like a log.
But when I get home to you, I find the things that you do,
Will make me feel all right.
a
You know I work all day, to get you money to buy you things,
And it's worth it just to hear you say, you're gonna give me everything.
So why on earth should moan, cause when I get you alone,
You know I feel OK.
b
When I'm home, everything seems to be right.
When I'm home, feeling you holding me tight, all through the night.
