The Isleys did not have the first version of this song, which the Top Notes (produced by a young Phil Spector) had recorded in 1961. Nevertheless, they had the most successful version of this song until the Beatles covered them, at which time the Isley Brothers reaped some additional attention. Their band in 1964 included a young guitar player stage-named Jimmy James, but whose real name was Jimi Hendrix. | ||
