Notes and Quotes: "Love Me Do" (White) |
|
After the Beatles had recorded the version with Ringo, George Martin was still not satisfied and ordered another date, this time with a session drummer. Parlophone released
this version instead of the Starr version when they needed subsequent
pressings (from 1963). Thus, Capitol Records released this Andy
White version in the United States and Parlophone used it on The
Beatles' first LP, Please Please Me (1963). |
This version
is even slightly faster than 4 September recording and does benefit from
Ringo's doubling of the snare drum part on the tambourine. However, White
instinctively and pronoucedly locks his bass drum with McCartney's bass
producing a crisp, punchy rhythmic groove that helps propel this version. |
