Again, the form here is AABA,
albeit in elaborated form. Each A section comes in three parts: an introduction,
a verse, and a refrain (A' A1 A2). The first time we hear the guitar introduction,
it is too fast and the drummer and the rest of the ensemble slow him (presumably
a male) down and establish the backdrop for the verse. The verse is organized
in a kind of call and response in that after Kidd sings a line, the backup
singers recite the hook with the title of the song. The refrain again
repeats the name of the song. After that, we get a variation on the introduction,
followed by another verse and refrain. The chorus, with its change in
mood, also has a guitar introduction. Finally, we get another statement
of the introduction, the verse, and the refrain before a coda ends the
song. |
